Preparing for Careers in Web Development
Careers in Web development include working as: Web designers, Web developers, Web masters, programmers, computer administrators, and network administrators. While Web masters are responsible for the content and accessibility of a Web site, Web designers are responsible for site design and creation. A two or four year degree in computer science, Web design, information technology, networking, graphic design, or e-commerce is often sufficient for entry. At the very minimum, graduates should walk away feeling comfortable with programming languages such as HTML, Java, and XML.
Career Prospects in Web Development
Generally, Web development professionals work in typical office environments in front of a computer. But given the widespread use of broadband technology, it's not uncommon to find Web developers who work from home, cafés, libraries, and other familiar settings. Because Web designers and developers often work freelance, providing exact salary information is sometimes difficult. Of course, the more education you have, the higher an income you can command.
