Qualifications for Computer Art Careers

In most cases, a high school diploma is required for one to enroll in a colege level computer design related program. The studies typically take two to four years while others are offered as crash courses taking a few weeks.

Students enrolling in computer art programs are generally required to have basic computer skills. Beginners are usually taught fundamentals of computer art design such as color theory and basic graphic design software. In most colleges, computer art students may take the program with a related minor such as fine arts or entrepreneurship.

Roles of Computer Artists

Computer arts is a diverse field and there are many career options depending on the qualifications you have. Print art professionals may be involved in image editing, publication design, cover design, creating type fonts and logos, and so on. Professional computer artists may work in design agencies or as contract workers for various companies.

Digital artists specialized in video editing, broadcast design, visual effects and storyboard creation and may be employed in film and broadcast television. These professionals usually collaborate with others, often working on defined parts of a project.
